Terence Crawford will have to turn doubt from Canelo Alvarez into belief.
For years, the current undisputed welterweight champion "Bud" Crawford was questioned about his level of opposition and resume. The Omaha native is the only two-weight division undisputed champion (140, 147) in boxing history.
Crawford's dominant victory over Errol Spence Jr back in July 2023 seemed to be the answer the boxing community searched for. Yet, Canelo Alvarez is still unsure about Terence Crawford's resume.
“No, look, like I always said, I respect Terence Crawford," Canelo told TMZ Sports. “He's a very talented fighter but he just won one big fight. If you see his record, he just beat one good fighter in Errol Spence. Other than that, I don't think he's beaten other great fighters like Spence.”
"Here we go with the I haven’t fought nobody but Spence talk. Lol y’all so delusional it’s crazy," Crawford responded on Twitter.
Canelo Alavrez will need to focus on another undisputed champion in Jermell Charlo, Sept. 30th in Las Vegas.
If Canelo wins, Crawford has stated he's interested in moving up to 168.
What's on the line? Another shot at undisputed glory in a third weight division for Terence "Bud" Crawford.
